About Our Institution
The JNIAS School of Planning and Architecture (JNIAS-SPA) is established by Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies (JNIAS), Hyderabad with a view to impart quality architectural education. It takes pride in being a community of students and faculty interested in positively changing the built environment. It aims to cultivate an intellectual climate embracing the concept of “making” to achieve design excellence. Experiential learning opportunities are supported by our state of the art facilities.
With a unique focus on sustainable urbanism, the JNIAS School of Planning and Architecture is committed to exploring creative, integrated solutions to improve the quality of life in our cities and region the sustainability of the places we inhabit. JNIAS-SPA’s innovative pedagogy introduces integrated project delivery methods and democratic decision-making processes, while simultaneously developing critical thinking skills to prepare the next generation of architects and urban designers. The students at JNIAS –SPA are groomed to enhance creativity, understand social responsibility, develop technical and research excellence, and become global leaders in Architecture and Construction Planning.

The aims and objectives of the JNIAS School of Planning and Architecture are:

Institutional Resources and Facilities
The School has highly qualified and experienced faculty specialized in Architecture, Housing, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, Urban Design, Conservation, and Structural Engineering, etc Through the rigor of their pursuits, breadth of interests and commitments to teaching, the faculty develops students who actively engage and resourcefully address emerging design issues.
DR.D SURESH, Ph.D Secretary
He is an able administrative and academic who has 24 years of experiences in the field of Sciences and Social Sciences Research. He has publishes 18 research papers and Conducted more than 100 Seminars/ Conferences / Round Table meetings. He is Managing Trustee of DSRF and Registrar of MGNIRSA, Hyderabad also.
Ar. HARSHAL SHINDE, Director
Harshal Shinde has won awards as a top ranking and outstanding design student throughout his architectural education. After pursuing his studies at the University of Pune (B.Arch) and the University of Cincinnati, USA (MS. Arch), he worked at the Chicago firm of Otis Koglin Wilson Architects, Inc., assuming the responsibilities of a Project Architect. The total worth of the projects he worked on at this firm is in excess of US$ 50 million. He brings his experience in Interior design and Project-management skills to Urban Arts. His other interests are travel, photography, writing & painting. He is 20 years of experience in the teaching and academic activities.
Mrs.Shalini Kakani, (PhD), Principal
She has experience of 17 years as an architect, urban planner and an academician has conducted conferences / seminars and guided M.Arch / B.Arch students. She is also pursuing Ph.D from JNA& FAU, Hyderabad.
